Elementary Gothic Bookhand by Bill Roach is a free Celtic Gothic display font with tall manuscript forms and sharply tapered strokes. Uneven contours give the lettering a cut-paper directness. Broad arches and hooked endings keep the forms lively.
It can create a theatrical title for folklore events and historical games. The manuscript character also suits book covers, museum graphics, and fantasy merchandise, especially with carved ornament or medieval illustration. In publishing, its strongest role is lending chapter openings the look of an illustrated storybook.

"Elementary Gothic Bookhand" is a serif typeface that is an attempt to hybridize a decorative titling face - with a full use text face. It is a font loosely based upon medieval and renaissance era lettering, and was also inspired by the map texts of fantasy author J.R.R. Tolkien. It is a biased mixture of both contemporary and antique typographical stylizations.
