HumboldtFraktur Initialen is a free blackletter initial font by Dieter Steffmann of Typographer Mediengestaltung. Angular, broken-looking strokes meet broad curves and sweeping horizontal flourishes, with sharp changes in width recalling medieval manuscript decoration.
As an illustrated opening letter, the design can convincingly turn a book chapter or historical poster into a richly hand-decorated page from an old volume.
