Limelight, created by Nicole Fally with help from Eben Sorkin of Sorkin Type Co, is a free Art Deco sans serif with theatrical proportions. Its letters alternate broad black masses with very fine strokes, and several forms reduce curves and joins to crisp geometric gestures. The silhouette is unmistakably dramatic.
It can turn a title into part of the stage scenery, especially for theater posters and cabaret programs. Fashion packaging and music artwork also suit its sharp contrast and 1920s glamour. This font is most convincing when the lettering itself needs to supply the period reference.
