SlabRomana Bold, designed by Manfred Klein, is a free high-contrast slab serif with imposing upright letterforms and formal proportions. Broad rectangular serifs and very thick main strokes meet hairline details, giving the lettering the sharp mechanical drama of old poster type.

Publishing gains a stern, period-minded title treatment from its scale. On posters, heritage packaging, and theater signage, the stark slab shapes can become part of a border, plaque, or architectural graphic rather than serving as neutral text. The abrupt changes in stroke weight echo engraved ornaments and structural lines.
