The broad shapes feel blunt and industrial, with uneven edges that resemble chipped paint or torn paper. Small interior openings make the dense strokes look even more forceful.
For underground music posters, the damaged surface supplies the raw abrasion and visual volume associated with loud, amplified live shows. Comic covers and game titles gain similar impact.
